Amiens Cathedral (Ascent)

Triforium passage, south side of nave looking east

To our right the solid wall bounding the aisle roof: in the foreground you can just see the springing of the relieving arch that frames the wall. To the left the colonnettes and capitals of the nave triforium: although invisible from the ground the details of bases and capitals are finely finished even on the reverse side. On the pavement to the left runs the iron chain (actually a series of iron rods linked together) that runs the length of the nave and ties the crossing pier. The space is cluttered with electronic paraphernalia for the light show. (Note: this was removed in 2017)
