Stretching away from us the enclosing wall of the chapels; the uprights of the flying buttresses appear to emerge from the chapel roofs. In the distance, the north west tower and to the right of it the pinnacle of the Beau Pilier, built c.1380 to consolidate the north flank of the western frontispiece
