Measurement
A measure of height for a Buddhist statue based on shūjaku 周尺, a unit of measure used in Zhou dynasty China (1 shūjaku = 23.5 cm). The height of a seated shūjōroku image is about 182 cm, and of a standing image, 392 cm. This is said to be the actual height of Buddha in life. A Buddhist image of this size is called shūjōroku-zō 周丈六像 or shūjōrokubutsu 周丈六仏, but often abbreviated to jōroku 丈六.
