Lit. "three leaves." A decorative pattern carved into the shape of three leaves; used particularly for metal fittings found on the gable pendant *gegyo 懸魚, suspended from the bargeboard *hafu 破風, of a gable *tsuma 妻. Used from the Momoyama period onward.
