              A metal	  fitting that allows a door to swing open in two directions. The fitting	  is shaped like a dipper, whereby the "dipper" end fits into a slightly rectangular,	  metal-lined cut in a non-penetrating tie beam *nageshi	  長押. The handle part of the metal fitting has holes through which nails are	  pounded into the surface of the nageshi. A circular piece extends	  from the underside of the door and fits into the hishaku kanamono.	  The same arrangement is also attached to the upper side of the door.
