Lit. "rabbit-fur cover." Also *karahafu gegyo 唐破風懸魚. 

A type of decorative wooden beam-endcover *gegyo 懸魚, attached to the top of a Chinese style gable *karahafu 唐破風. As the crest of the undulating gable is almost horizontal, the unokedōshi has a correspondingly flat shape, with symmetrical fins hire 鰭 spreading out right and left. Unlike other gegyo, the unokedōshi has no metal foil *rokuyō 六葉. 

The oldest extant example in Japan can be seen on the miniature shrine *zushi 厨子 in Hōryūji *Shōryōin 法隆寺聖霊院 (ca. 1278), Nara.
