A wall projecting 15-30 cm outward from the flat top, *inubashiri 犬走り, of a castle embankment or rampart. This wall enables the defenders to observe the movement of enemy forces and it serves as a platform for counterattack with spears and stones, directly above the attacking enemy forces .
