Storehouses
Beams used to support a heavy lower ridge *jimune 地棟. They are found mainly in storehouse *dozō 土蔵 construction. Struts, munazuka 棟束, are placed upon the lower ridge to support the true ridge *munagi 棟木 and to receive the diagonal roof framing members *gasshō 合掌. The tenbinbari are joined to posts by means of tenons *hozo ほぞ and secured by cotter pins, komisen 込栓 and hanasen 鼻栓.
