Folk Dwellings
A room in traditional vernacular houses *minka 民家, in parts of Hyōgo Prefecture, containing the Buddhist altar *butsudan 仏壇. Commemorative plaques, ihai 位牌, inscribed with the names of deceased family members are kept in this room. It is the central room in the row of guest rooms along the front of a main house *hirairi 平入, and also functions as an anteroom to the adjacent main guest reception room, honzashiki 本座敷.
