Lit. tea whisk fence. A type of side fence *sodegaki 袖垣 in which thick sheaves of bamboo or bush clover are fixed along a horizontal axis while the bushy head of the material is left unbound, resembling a tea whisk. It may be combined with wattle fences on the lower half.
