Also called wakibashira 脇柱; taishōbashira 大将柱. Initially, the square post placed at the right front corner of a Noh stage *nōbutai 能舞台 when seen from the audience. The left front post is called *metsukebashira 目付柱. Later daijinbashira referred to both right and left front posts on the stage of a *kabuki 歌舞伎 theater. In 1762 these were eliminated. The present-day imaginary line between the left and right daijinbashira is called daijindōri 大臣通.
