doijiki 土居敷

The foundation bed, shiki 敷, of an earthen embankment, *doi 土居. It has three sections: the core section, shown by parallel lines descending from the upper level; the foundation of the outside slope, sotonori 外法; and the foundation of the inside slope, uchinori 内法. The upper level surface of the core section is called tenba 天端 or mabumi 馬踏 (hirami 褶 or narashi ならし). The diagonal slopes of the inner and outer sections are called kane 矩.
