Ch: Yuanye. Lit. garden building. The only extant treatise on classical Chinese garden construction. Written by the late Ming dynasty garden designer Li Jicheng (Jp: Ri Keisei 李計成) or Ji Wupi (Jp: Kei Muhi 計無否), it was published in 1635. First titled Yuanmu (Jp: Enmoku 園牧), in Japan it is also known by the titles Mokkei zensho 木経全書 and Dattensho (Jp: Attenkō 奪天工). Abundantly illustrated, En'ya details the theory and technique of landscape design and garden architecture.
