Refers to the pitch of a roof that is different on the front and back from the pitch of the sides. The hip rafters at the corners cannot bisect them equally into two 45° angles where they meet the purlins. Hexagonal and octagonal buildings, *rokkakudō 六角堂 and *hakkakudō 八角堂, have furesumi type roofs. In contrast, if the corner is bisected equally into two 45° angles, it is called a true corner, masumi 真隅.
