A stand, made of ceramic, bamboo, or metal, on which the lid of a tea ceremony kettle is placed. When the cover is placed on the kettle, the stand supports the dipper end of the ladle, *hishaku 柄杓. If the stand is made of bamboo, it is called hikikiri 引切り. When used with a portable brazier, *furo 風炉, the node, fushi 節, or ring on the bamboo stand is close to the top. When a fixed hearth, *ro 炉, is used the node is in the middle.
