Also hafu kanagu 破風金具. Decorative metal fittings, *kazari kanagu 飾金具, used on a roof gable, *hafu 破風. Among the earliest examples in Japan are those on the gable crest of Hōryūji *Kondō 法隆寺金堂 (rebuilt 693, Nara), which are decorated with openwork honeysuckle arabesques, *nindōmon 忍冬文. These hafu kazari kanagu are thought to be ancestors of the gable pendant, *gegyo 懸魚.
