Painting
Pictures on paper pasted onto small boxes and prized by women and girls in the early 18th century. Most of the pictures were decorative, undulating, curved shapes *suhamagata 州浜形 or fan-shaped, ōgi-gata 扇形 paper that was then surrounded by tinted areas of color over cut-out forms *fuki-e 吹き絵. Many were identified as such by the words haribako-e to the right of the painting. These boxes were popular for only a short period of time and then disappeared from the market.
