Also written 貼交絵. Prints of two or more subjects on a single page. Most common are colored paper shapes, poem-card *tanzaku 短冊 shapes, and fan shapes which were cut out and stuck to a larger blank sheet to form a picture. The idea for harimaze-e prints, which became popular around the middle of the 19th century, is thought to be derived from examples on screens harimaze byōbu 張交屏風. Many such prints by Utagawa Hiroshige 歌川広重 (also known as Andō 安藤 Hiroshige, 1797-1858) remain and joint works by several artists gassaku 合作 are also numerous.
