Also called hira kudari 平降 or *kudarimune 降棟. Descending ridges at the front and rear sides of a tiled roof *kawarabuki 瓦葺. They are at right angles to the main ridge. The descending ridges, set in a very short distance from the edge of the roof, are decorative rather than functional. Example; Mirokuji Hondō 彌勒寺本堂 (1379), Hyōgo Prefecture and Hōryūji *Daikōdō 法隆寺大講堂 (end 10th century), Nara.
