Also hirukagi 蛭鈎 or hirukugi 蛭釘. Lit. leech hook. A pothook attached to the ceiling of the tea ceremony room *chashitsu 茶室 above the firebox *ro 炉, from which a chain and a kettle can be hung. The direction of the hook varies according to the school of tea. The same term is used for the hook on which a temple bell is hung. If the hook is small, it is called hirukagi and is used for hanging lightweight objects such as a flower vase or an incense burner. An entire assemblage includes the iron hook, one square and one round washer and a pin.
