1  Diamond- or lozenge-shaped lattice or muntins used on doors, transoms, and fences *hishigaki 菱垣. Doors with diamond-shaped latticework are called hishigōshido 菱格子戸 and transoms with a diamond-shaped lattice are called hishigōshi ranma 菱格子欄間. One example is the hishigōshi found at Ryōanji 龍安寺 (late 16th century) in Kyoto.
