Sculpture
A method of metal casting where the form of the desired object was carved into a sandstone mold, and molten metal was poured into the carved hollow. This technique was used in Yayoi period to make bronze swords, spears, and halberts. It was also used to make many early examples of dōtaku 銅鐸 (bell-shaped objects) with a ritual function. Later examples are thought to have been made using a clay mold.
