A small cabinet with sliding doors at the bottom of open, often split-level shelves *chigaidana 違い棚, constructed beside the alcove *tokonoma 床の間, in a shoin style *shoin-zukuri 書院造. Although it may have a floor board as its base, this is usually raised level with the tokonama flooring.
