The purlins or plates *keta 桁, supported on the main frame posts *jōyabari 上屋梁, in the conventional construction *kyōrogumi 京呂組 in vernacular houses *minka 民家, with thatched roofs. In the less common form of construction *oriokigumi 折置組, the jōyageta was the uppermost of the main transverse beams, which rested directly upon the tops of the support posts *jōyabashira 上屋柱. Also called hon'yageta 本屋桁 in some districts.
