kaburagegyo 蕪懸魚

Lit. turnip bargeboard pendant. A gable pendant *gegyo 懸魚 decorated with curvilinear carving, usually fitted with an ornamental hexagonal foil *rokuyō 六葉. Often found on Chinese style architecture *zenshūyō 禅宗様, the kaburagegyo became very popular in the Edo period.
