Roofing Tiles
A general term for tiles used to cover the bargeboard *hafu 破風 on a gable roof *kirizuma yane 切妻屋根, a hip-and-gable roof *irimoya yane 入母屋屋根, a roof with an extended front bargeboard *sugaruhafu 縋破風, and an undulating bargeboard *karahafu 唐破風. These tiles include: the hanging broad concave eave-end tile *kake karakusagawara 掛唐草瓦; the second tile to be laid *ninohiragawara 二の平瓦; an ordinary broad concave roof tile *shikihiragawara 敷平瓦; hanging semi-cylindrical eave-end tile *nokidomoe gawara 軒巴瓦 or *nokimarugawara 軒丸瓦; and filler or gap filler tile *mendogawara 面戸瓦.
