Either double plank doors *itakarado 板唐戸 in a single opening or paneled doors *sangarado 桟唐戸. The former are associated with timber doors from the 7th-12th century and those of the wayō style *wayō 和様 from the 13th century onward. The latter are especially characteristic of buildings in the Zen style *zenshūyō 禅宗様.
