A knife which is used with a ruler to carve a straight line on a woodblock *hangi 版木 used for woodblock printmaking *ukiyo-e 浮世絵. The keibiki blade is on the left side of the handle. The blade, called *kogatana 小刀, is on the right side of the handle. The keibiki is used also for wooden crosspieces of sliding screens *shōji 障子, lintels, and other woodwork.
