Also kizure gōshi 木連格子; tsumagōshi 妻格子. The latticework that fills the gable pediment, hafu-no-naimen 破風の内面, of a hip-and-gable roof *irimoya yane 入母屋屋根. Lattice set horizontally and vertically in a crisscross pattern, tateyoko gōshi 竪横格子, is backed by boards but there are no extant examples constructed from the 7th-12th century. Only vertical lattice was used prior to the 7th-12th century.
