Also kojin kiza 胡人跪坐. A kneeling position for a Buddhist image. The figure sits with both knees fully bent, and a straight back, in a gesture of respect or worship. The attendant demons for *En no Gyōja 役行者, such as those in Ishiumadera 石馬寺, Shiga Prefecture from the Kamakura period, sit in this position. A variation on this position, also found in raigō imagery (see *raigō-zu 来迎図), where the figure has one knee raised, usually the left is sometimes called sonkyoza 蹲踞坐.
