Also read yanagui and written 胡禄. A kind of quiver which hangs from the right side of the waist with the arrowheads down. Developed from the ancient quiver, yuki 靫, in the 6th to 7th century, it was used mainly for aristocratic ceremonies. There were two types: The hirakoroku 平胡ろく and the jar-shaped tsubokoroku 壷胡ろく. Both were made of rattan, tsuzura 葛 (menisper maceae), and wood. For ceremonies, lacquered wood koroku with mother-of-pearl inlay *raden 螺鈿 or powered gold and silver decoration *maki-e 蒔絵 was used. In medieval times koroku became simpler and were called ebira 箙.
