kōryō sasugumi 虹梁扠首組

A roof frame constructed with rainbow beams *kōryō 虹梁 that extend transversely across the core *moya 母屋 of the building. Each end is supported by a bracket complex. Another bracket complex is placed on top of the beam end to carry a purlin. Straight diagonal braces *sasu 扠首 form a triangle and are positioned so that the apexes support bracket complexes that are in line with the ridge that they support.
