A small section within a translucent sliding screen *shōji 障子 that can be opened. It can also be a small shōji that slides vertically instead of horizontally, like an *agesage shōji 上下障子 or *nekoma shōji 猫間障子. Glass is often inserted into the two bottom rows of the magoshōji so that a garden can be viewed even during inclement weather.
