A thick, penetrating tie beam about 6 cm wide used to reinforce the doors of storehouses *dozō 土蔵. Minonuki were first used in the construction of vernacular houses *minka 民家, in the environ of Kawagoe 川越 City, Saitama Prefecture and then spread to minka throughout the country.
