The rainbow beam *kōryō 虹梁 that is set between the pillars at the front of a step canopy *kōhai 向拝. Rainbow beams are normally positioned transversely over the core of a building *moya 母屋, or over the aisle *hisashi 廂. Mizuhikibari 水引梁 refers to beams used to construct the kōhai.
