Also mosaku 模作, mosha 模写, mokosaku 模古作. Works of art such as statues which are copies of earlier famous pieces. This practice was particularly widespread in the Kamakura period, when there was a tendency for revivalism. Particularly well-known works copied included the Seiryōjishiki Shakazō 清涼寺式釈迦像, Kyoto and the Zenkōjishiki Amida sanzonzō 善光寺式阿弥陀三尊像, Nagano Prefecture.
