General Terms
A general term for a small room or simple structure where objects such as items of equipment, tools, containers and utensils, personal possessions and kindling are kept when not in use. Not usually applied to foodstores or elaborate storage structures, such as kura 蔵/倉. Similar in some respects to the *nando 納戸 but more recent. In use by the 18th century.
