Gates
According to the Shokunihongi 続日本紀, a gate leading to the waiting area for all officials, chōshūden 朝集殿, arriving to attend important ceremonies at Heijōkyū 平城宮 (710-80), the Imperial Palace at the Heijō Capital, Heijō-kyō 平城京 in Nara. This type of gate is also believed to correspond to the *Ōtenmon 応天門 at *Heiankyū 平安宮 at the Heian Capital, Heian-kyō 平安京 in Kyoto. The Mibumon 壬生門 is presumed to have been a gate on the southeast side of Heiankyū.
