Also called nakashōji 中障子, yoshiwara shōji 吉原障子, takeshōji 竹障子, nakanukido 中抜戸 and tsukuritsuke shōji 造付障子. A paper and wood window *shōji 障子, where the second quarter from the bottom, about eye-level when seated on the floor, is filled with vertical muntins. The remaining areas are covered with paper or sometimes the space is covered with a board.
