nehijiki 根肘木

Also called *manekihijiki 招肘木. A small bracket arm, a type of *sashihijiki 挿肘木, inserted into a pillar to support the extended ends of true bracket arms, rainbow beams *kōryō 虹梁 or purlins. These ends are called mochiokuri 持送. Sometimes the nehijiki may be placed under a sashihijiki to add support.
