nijū enkō 二重円光

Also nijū enkōhai 二重円光背, nijū ensō二重円相. Lit. "double round halo." A type of halo *kōhai 光背, found on seated Buddhist figures. Consists of two composite parts: a roundhead halo *zukō 頭光, attached to a round body halo *shinkō 身光. These round sections are called *enkō 円光. Nijū enkō were used throughout all periods of Buddhist art from the 7th century. A good example is the Amida Nyoraizō 阿弥陀如来像 (946) in Iwafunedera 岩船寺, Kyoto.
