Also obiki 尾引. Sleepers about 10 cm sq. that extend horizontally at right angle to posts that are erected on a sill *dodai 土台. A beam, called ōbikiuke 大引受, supports the sleepers a little above the sill. The floor joists *neda 根太 are set, and the floors boards are laid on top of them. Floor struts *yukazuka 床束, are set on stone bases or sometimes directly on the ground about 1 m apart to support the sleepers and to prevent them from warping. The flooring is laid at right angles to the floor joists but parallel to the sleepers.
