1 A mounting for paintings and calligraphy which originated in China. It consists of a scroll with rollers at both ends that is hung horizontally on a wall by stretching strings attached to the rollers.
2 Because the shape of ōhi resembles a long, narrow Buddhist vestment called a *kesa 袈裟, ōhi came to be synonymous with this garment draped over the left shoulder of a Buddhist priest.
