A sukiya style *sukiya-zukuri 数寄屋造 bathhouse, yokushitsu 浴室, from the Momoyama period located at Nishihonganji 西本願寺 of the *Hiunkaku 飛雲閣. It is connected to the Hiunkaku by a corridor, watarō 渡廊. The entire structure is an irregular shape, but the bathhouse, itself, is single storied, and is 11 × 4 bays (13.56 m × 6.88 m). It is also a simple building without bracket complexes *tokyō 斗きょう, It has a single eave *hitonoki 一軒, and widely spaced rafters *mabaradaruki 疎垂木. The roof is hipped *yosemune-zukuri 寄棟造, and covered with finely layered shingles *kokerabuki 柿葺. Traditionally, it is thought to have been the bathhouse at the Jurakudai 聚楽第, once belonging to Toyotomi Hideyoshi 豊臣秀吉 (1536-98).
