Lit. "Amida with welcoming descent mudras." A figure of *Amida 阿弥陀 with hand gestures similar to those traditionally associated with *Shaka 釈迦: Raised right hand: *semui-in 施無畏印 (Sk. Abhayamudra; do not fear); lowered left hand: segan-in 施願印 (Sk. Varadamudra; bestowal). Palms face outward, with fingers extended; fingers may sometimes be curled but thumb and fingers don't touch on Hakuhō and Nara period images. In later Amida images the hands are in the same positions, but the thumb and one of the fingers (index, middle, or ring) on each hand curl to touch one another.
