A net-like ornament strung with jewels or precious metals and hung from the canopy *tengai 天蓋, or on the front of a Buddhist image. Described in Pure Land Buddhist, Jōdokyō 浄土教 texts. A good example is the ramō hanging from the canopy over the Shaka sanzon-zō 釈迦三尊像 (6th-7th century) in Hōryūji *Kondō 法隆寺金堂, Nara.
