Rokujō Madenokōji Bussho 六条万里小路仏所

A Buddhist sculpture workshop *bussho 仏所, active from the 11th-14th century and located in Kyoto's Rokujō madenokōji 六条万里小路. It was established by Inchō 院朝 (dates unknown), son of Injo 院助 (?-1106), the founder of the *In-pa 院派 school, as an offshoot of the In-pa workshop *Shichijō Ōmiya Bussho 七条大宮仏所. One of the major groups of Kyoto sculptors *kyoto busshi 京都仏師, who flourished in the late Heian period, that received commissions from the imperial court and nobility. Rokujō Madenokōji Bussho gradually declined in the Kamakura period along with other Kyoto-based In-pa and *En-pa 円派 workshops, because the Kamakura government favored the Nara-based *Kei-ha 慶派 school.
