The Sakuheimon is the center gate on the north side of Kyoto Gosho 京都御所, during the end of the Heian period. It can be seen in two scrolls: Heiji monogatari emaki 平治物語絵巻 and Ishiyamadera engi emaki 石山寺縁起絵巻. The Taikenmon 待賢門 can also be identified in these scrolls. As illustrated they have three-bays and one-entrance. The Sakuheimon was rebuilt in 1855 as a 4-legged gate *shikyakumon 四脚門. Excluding the *Gishūmon 宜秋門, the Sakuheimon is the same as the other gates were in style construction and execution. The Sakuheimon was almost never opened.
