Ch: qianjiang shanshui. A type of Chinese landscape painting using light red coloring for rocks and trees. The technique was first appeared in the Southern Song dynasty and was used throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties. In Japan *nanga 南画 painters utilized the technique. Although the name sengō implies a light red dye akanezome 茜染め, red ocher *taisha 代赭 was generally used.
