A Shinto shrine building where winter and summer clothing are sewn and offered to the deities. Some scholars believe that this building and the custom is derived from the legend that Amaterasu Ōmikami 天照大神 had women weavers create garments for the gods in a place called imihatadono 斎服殿. At the Kamo Mioya Jinja 賀茂御祖神社 (1863) in Kyoto, the shinpukuden is used by the imperial envoy when he visits the shrine.
